Night to Unite United Unity Ave!

16 Aug

The annual Night to Unite event proved to be a lovely chance for neighbors to get to know one another. While board members cooked hot dogs and hamburgers at the hot grill and boiled fresh corn on the cob, many residents brought delicious dishes to share. Golden Valley police and fire fighters stopped by to introduce themselves and hand out some freebies for the kids. We had a splendid turnout of around 60 people total. But we’d love even more next year!

The party was especially momentous considering power had only been restored a few hours earlier following a massive storm the previous day that downed many trees and flung many branches around the neighborhood. Once again Briar Wood proved itself as a great place to live, with neighbors helping neighbors.

Special thanks to Shari O’Flanagan for all her help organizing the party. Her work is greatly appreciated!
